
Nikolaos Aletras
Biography
Nikolaos Aletras holds a PhD in Film Studies from the School of Fine Arts, Film Department of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His research interests focus on the production of streaming audiovisual content and digital distribution, the analysis of South Korean cinema as full-service cinema, and the School Movies genre (his postdoctoral research involves the production of a 3D Animation School Movie). He is a Special Teaching Staff (ΕΕΠ) member at the Film Department of Aristotle University, where he teaches Film Production courses. Additionally, he is an Autodesk-certified instructor for the 3D Animation production software Maya. His academic papers have been presented at Greek and international conferences and published in their proceedings.
He is also a film journalist and critic, having written for various newspapers and online media for many years. He has represented these media as an accredited correspondent at international film festivals such as Cannes, Istanbul, and Busan. From 2009 to 2017, he served as the Artistic Director of the Larissa International Film Festival. He is the director of the film website icineman.com and a member of both the Panhellenic Film Critics Association (ΠΕΚΚ) and the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI). His articles and reviews have been published in collective editions of the Panhellenic Film Critics Association. He was also a member of the Audiovisual Literacy Working Group of the National and Social Dialogue Committee for Education (November 2015 – June 2016). Since March 2022, he has been a member of the Scientific Committee for Arts Education of the Ministry of Education.

As a result of his postdoctoral research, he wrote the script for Kalamonas, which he is directing as a feature-length 3D animation film using software tools such as Autodesk Maya.
