- What is narrative? Examples of narratives in performing arts. Conceptual analysis and comparison with related terms (myth, game, story, plot, theme, simulation, ritual, process, construction).
- Content and execution of a narrative.
- Ways in which narrative characteristics change over time.
- Script development process based on the target platform.
- Different narrative choices enabled by new platforms and techniques for utilizing them.
- New approaches to character development, plot structure, dialogue, and genre in emerging narrative forms.
- Understanding the capabilities and unique characteristics of each platform.
- Developing narratives in new and interactive formats: from concept development for PC games and interactive websites to scripts for VR (virtual reality) environments and the creation of web series.
- Form and structure: What is the shape of a narrative/story? Analysis of artistic works (performing arts, literature, visual arts, performance) in relation to their narrative elements.
- Transformation of texts into other forms of art.
- Presentation of ideas on how written texts provide different modes of storytelling and review of works in progress.
